For me, today was one of those days when you just feel like staying at home because you know that nothing was going to go your way. Indeed, just like what my intuition told me, the exact same thing happened.
I woke up only to feel that my throat was hurting badly and that I had a blocked nose. While on the bus, my nose somehow became 'unblocked'. However, this did not help. Instead, it worsened the situation. My nose was like a rusted water tap, flowing non-stop. Despite several attempts to put a stop to this. It was to no avail. It was only after using up my whole packet of tissue papers did my nose finally reverted back to normal. But this was still not the end to my series of unfortunate events.
After the announcements, we could leave the terraces and proceed to our class for silent reading. However, in the process of leaving, I was caught by my discipline master for wearing ankle socks. After being reprimanded, we were brought to his office to write down our names and to change our socks. Initially, I thought he was kind enough to give us the socks for free. In the end, each of us had to pay a price of $2 for a pair of socks that we did not ask for. Also, we had to throw our socks away. My heart ached as I saw my pair of socks land in the filthy rubbish bin. After giving us another stern warning, he released us. It was no doubt my fault for wearing ankle socks to school in the first place, but were such actions really necessary? Luckily for me, I was wearing plain white socks which although were cheap, they were still much more expensive than the socks received from my discipline master. However, what about those who were wearing branded socks which cost a bomb? Money was wasted just because of wearing harmless ankle socks. I know that punishment should be meted out to offenders, but this kind of punishment is overboard.
At 8 am, lessons officially commenced. For us, the first class was mathematics. The atmosphere was slightly different today because we were supposed to sit for a maths test and through first-hand experiences, all of us knew that the maths-test was going to be mind-boggling. Indeed, our prediction came true. But this was not the worst. During the test, everything was proceeding well for me till the alarm went off. The shrill noise from the bell shattered the silence in the class and my thoughts as well. In that instant, I forgot the workings which were still in my head a moment ago. I looked to my teacher for instructions. She was in a dilemma. Just then , the director of my consortium came to my class and asked all of us to proceed to the terraces immediately. We had no choice but to obey her commands. While waiting for further instructions at the terraces, all of us suffered the fury of mother nature. It was a blistering hot morning. When the teacher in charge finally spoke, I thought we could finally go for our break and have an extension as well. However, this was evidently not the case. Despite taking away 10 minutes of our break, we still had to attend assembly punctually at 9.55 or suffer the consequences. You could call this being biased and unfair. Prejudice is shown through here.
I was certainly glad that this was the last of my series of unfortunate events. I hope such a thing will not happen again. This was not a good experience for me. What a day...
